Avoid getting lost with a good orientation!
You will learn all the basic concepts to be able to orient yourself without difficulty in the mountains, both with a map and with GPS, and all the practical fundamentals to be able to understand the weather before and during our mountain activities.
2.5-hour face-to-face workshop where tools are offered to minimize the triggers for most accidents in the mountains: getting lost and adverse weather.
“Everyone thinks that accidents happen to others” (GREIM Civil Guard), but more than 50% of the rescues are of normal people, carrying out normal activities and that could be avoided with a minimum knowledge of mountain safety.
You’ll learn:
– GPS, pros and cons. Most common mistakes and how to avoid them
– Validate tracks and make our own route
– Learn to read a map
– Use of the compass, take a course and triangulate a position to know where we are
– Understand and validate a weather forecast
– Search real-time weather information
Training opens the doors of access to new adventures. It is not a simple guided outing, it is about expanding and validating the concepts of orientation and meteorology from our “all about hiking” course or those learned from experience.
Intended for all mountain lovers who want to learn orientation techniques and not just depend on following an arrow on the electronic device without any criteria. Also to understand and correctly assess weather forecasts, how to validate them and where to look for the correct information.
We adapt all our courses to the level of the participants so that they can always get the most out of the course
A minimum level is needed that allows you to complete a mountain route of 1400m of unevenness in one day. It is not a technically demanding route and you are not going to run uphill all the time. The objective of the course is to learn to be self-sufficient in this type of activity in this area. We are not going to break any records.
As mountain professionals we not only seek the greatest enjoyment, but also the highest degree of safety possible during the activities. For this we will have personal security equipment, communication and a sufficient first-aid kit.
It is essential to be in possession of accident and rescue insurance that covers any incident (it is mandatory for all participants). If you don’t have one, we can manage it for you.
A list of material will be provided to the participants. Although it will be very similar to the material required to carry out activities in the middle mountains in the Pyrenees in winter.
